ok guys, i need some help once again. so i turn to you all with the knowledge. i swapped the 48 slow jet back in tonite. 195 main is still in. now this is where im lost and at wits end... when i turn the idle mixture screw in to lightly seated, the motor should start to run rough as the mixture is being leaned out at this point correct??? i did just that and there was no change in engine speed. i backed it out 2 1/2 turns. hell i even took it out for a ride and seemed to run smoothly :cussing:. can somebody or some of you please help me. im not sure where to go from hereagain

are you increasing the idle speed when adjusting???? it needs to be around 1200 or so and it needs to be at operating temp......about 10 miles of riding.....

    Idle should be 1000
    but when you tune
get it warm then open throttle to 1200 to 1500, lock with throttle stop screw

    Then adjust.

if you are turning the screw in (leaner) and it doesn't change
the pilot jet may be too large.

yea with the bike warmed up and idling at 1000, i can turn the mixture screw to lean it out and it does nothing to the engine. im going to try a 46 slow jet tonite and go from there

In the instruction from the CV kit, you warm the engine, set idle speed to 900-950 rpm. Turn mix screw in till it stumbles. Then back out till it runs smooth then + 1/8 turn. Maintain the idle speed as you adjust the mix screw.
Now blip the throttle, If the engine revs with no carb backfires your good, if it back fires, back the mix screw out another 1/8 turn.
As you test ride watch for backfires or sluggish responce at idle and off idle. If backfire to lean, back off mix screw. If sluggish, to rich, turn in the mix screw.
If you can't get it with the screw between 2-3 turns you need a different slow jet. Less than 2 turns is to big a jet try one size smaller, if more than three, jet is to small, go up one.
the main jet is a whole nother thing.
