Hello All; Maybe someone can help me I am somewhat confused. I have never torn down a motor until now and I am stuck at the cylinder. My pistons and rings are in place and I need to put the cylinder in place. How do I get the cylinder around the pistons and rings. I looked at ring compressors but they are designed for the piston head to go on after the cylinder is in place. If I put the cylinder on first the rocker arm will not come up over the cylinder so I will not be able to put the piston head on the rocker arm. The bike is a 1980 kz650 f-1. Any ideas anyone?

two solutions......you can buy a specialty compressor, it has a removable band that fits on special pliers.........or use a large hose clamp.....the type that is used on radiator hoses, just bigger. some jobbers will have them in a wider style also.

I looked around and what I decided on were plastic coated pipe hangers. The plastic wont scratch the piston and it is wide enough to cover all 4 rings. Im gonna try it later today. Im trying to bid on the actual tool on ebay.
Thanks Again for your help. My girl talked me into trying this myself so its been a real learning experience and test of my paitence.
