This tire list for 285.00

Called two Harley dealers today. They said the Black Wall is 285.00.
If I git any of the white walls they cost more.
Talked to the two dealers in a 50 mile radius and one of them I bought my bike from
I asked If I take the back wheel off my bike, how much for the tire, mounted and balanced.
They said 303.00 aproximly
And you will have to make a appointment and we can't see you before Saturday,

CAlled a dealership in College station and asked the same thing.
The service consulant said why don't you just bring the bike over.
I said I don't have the money for the tire and you takin it off.
He said I will let you have the tire for 195.00
I will take if off yer bike. put the new tire on and balance it and reinstall if for
228.46
I asked him if he was sure , He said you can have it in Black will or any of the white walls for the same price.
I said can I come today. He said yes.
so I went and had it done.
The did the recall on the rear brake light switch while I was there.

Listen to this they said a HD service rep came to their store and walked in the shop and seen a new bike with a trailer hitch on it. WRote down the VIn numbers and blackballed the bike and voided the warranty in any Harley computer just for the trailer hitch on the bike.

Nobody here is gonna furnish a 180/65/16 tire, take the saddle bags off and remove the rear wheel off the bike, and take the tire off, and install the new tire and put it back on the bike and test ride it for 228.00 out the door.

And it still has the narrow white wall on it like come from the factory.

This tire cost more than the narrower front tire.

JMHO but I agree with charlie46. All my customers have switched over from the 407 to the Dunlop American Elite tires on their baggers. All the same design characteristics as the 407. Same speed and load ratings. They only come in blackwall, but at a $100 a tire cheaper than the 407, they love em. Can't see the white walls with the bags on anyway, plus the time they spent cleaning white walls is now spent riding.

The stealerships here in Michigan charge $288.00 with tax for the 407, plus 1 hour labor @ $85.00.hr to install. So that's $373.00 just for the rear tire and installation.

My customers with older bikes that were riding on the the 401's and 402's have switched over to the Dunlop Elite 3. Better handling and they are not affected by road cracks or bridge grating.

Wrong !! MoCo had exclusive rights for 2yrs. Now Dunlop offers the same constructin w/ SLIGHTLY different tread(quieter&deeper) Had both. Verry pleased with new American Elites

The "American Elite" and the "Elite 3" are two different tire series from Dunlop. The "American Elite" series is the alternative tire for 09' and newer baggers, same size and rating as the 407 but a $100.00 cheaper.

The Elite 3 tires are for pre-09' bikes, not the same tire as the American Elite series.
