Had some trouble starting the bike today. Noticed my Tach and Speedometer didnt light up. Turned off the ignition turned it back on they lit up and the bike started fine.

Took it to a gas station and when I hit the starter to leave, nothing happened. Turned it off the ignition, then turned it on, and the bike started.

So I get it home, charge the battery. Turn the key, all is bright and looking good. I hit the starter, one big click, now the bike is dead. No lights, nothing when I turn on the ignition.

Anyone out there have any ideas?

    Thanks
    Phil

    Checking all the cables for
    tightness and contact and
    cleanliness is good

    How old is the battery,
it might be charging but not
    holding a charge well

have it load tested at a
    auto parts store

    take the battery out
    and up to the store.
just to make sure it's not part
    of the problem

    Ignition switch could
    be going bad

    next time, when you
go to start and it doesn't light up
    wiggle the key
    vs turning it off

In that the only thing you did was
to turn the key back off and on

    I'm betting the ignition switch
    is going out...
or the connector to the switch is
    loose or having issues.

    Guys

The grounding bolt looked a little gunky but not too bad. So I took a wire brush to it and lighty cleaned it. Hooked the cables back up, turned the key and my lights were back.

Hit the starter and she roared to life.

As always thanks for all the tips! Didnt think it was going to be something that simple.
