17 years in the majors, 3003 base hits, 3000th is a home run, 5 for 5 in one game, game a win! Say what you will about the NY Yankees but Derek is the man!:cheers::cheers:

Good baseball player...on a team that should win three out of every four World Series, yet fails miserably compared to their payroll. Wonder what his hit total would have been if he didn't get surrounded by an All Star team every season? Probably around 1700. But good for him - I wouldn't want to spend that much time in NY for twice his money!:roflmao:

I always thought Jeter was a great player. He has stayed with the same team thus far and there is not even a whisper about steroids. That being said, I have to say that major league baseball has greatly disappointed me the past several decades and I don't watch it or go to games anymore. I used to be a huge fan. Now, we'll go see the Carolina Mudcats play in Zebulon. Affordable, inexpensive & fun . . .

I too really don't follow the game until the series no matter who's playing. I come from a strong Yankee fan family (especially Mom). I too felt sold out years ago. But, you gotta give him credit. He's one of the best local sports heros for the kids in NY. He also signs autographs free of charge! Hate the Yankees but love the man.
