Well you have two options. A. Don't put gas in it. B. Use Gum Out carb cleaner if you are going take the carb off off the bike and clean it.

I am curious, are filtering the gas going to the carb at all? I am filtering twice. I have an in tank filter with manual fuel valve and I am also using an in line filter. Works really well.

If there is a filter that will remove the alcohol from gasoline please reply were I can get one!! Regular gasoline has about 10% (maybe more) ethenol (grain alcohol...aka white lightning). I am told the alcohol collects any free water in the gasoline and causes corrosion and will destroy some rubber parts. I also understand high test gasoline carries a smaller percentage than regular (a good reason for using high test). So like it or not you are burning alcohol if you use gasoline. A periodic carburetor cleaning (especially if you store your honey with regular gas) is a good maintenance idea. Uncle Sam wants to make sure you are breathing clean air while you are cleaning your carb. The smallest carb cleaner I can find is 3/4 of a gallon. Those super duper spray jobs are not made for the kinda cleaning I need.

No filter to take the alcohol out. Like you said, it is inevitable now a days with ethanol. Elbow grease is the tool needed then.

I don't use any additives for water in gas ,But theres some that say they will , so as a small rule of thumb I use the lucas fuel treatment in about every other tank or so , it depends on where i'am riding , if just running local & wont use a full tank quick then it gets it , if out riding long where I 'll run through a few tanks then I space it out some , I keep a small bottle in the saddle bag treats about 5-6 tanks ( 5gal )

I always pour 4 or 5 'glugs' of Marvel Mystery Oil (MMO) in my fuel tank whenever I put gas in it, which in my case is every 2 gallons (small tank). I use more than the recommended amount. It helps keep the carb clean as you run it. My jets and the inside of my CV carb are still clean after 3 riding seasons using the stuff. Diaphrams and O-rings, etc. are still looking good also.

thanks cowboy and joshbob, looks as if fuel additives may be a good idea. I have depended on High test gas in the past, but with Uncle Sams direction maybe a change would be a good idea!!!

I've found the strongest cleaner. It is Berryman B-12 Chemtool. It comes in two ways; a spay on version that can be used while cleaning the carb on your own. One must be carefull with it because it eats away paint. It also comes so that it can get mixed with gas. That is used only one ounce per gallon. It is so strong that one can only use it in a late model pick-up every four months. The modern fuel injector isn't as strong as an Iron-head carb. I've been using it in my 1980 Iron-head about once a month. It makes the bike run fine. I only have to use that fuel pet-**** fuel filter. It nolonger gets clogged up by ethanol.

Not heard of that brand before, but it's possible it's not sold in this area - but I've used Seafoam and MMO and they both also work well if used consistantly.
