Just wanted to give you an update on how things ar going with me now. I had my Port-O-Cath put in yesterday for my chemo therapy wich will probably start in a few days. Very little, if any, discomfort. Didn't get the prescription for the Percocet filled because there wasn't that much discomfort. My surgeon started the surgery at 7:30, I was in Recovery by 8, having breakfast in the Short Stay unit by 8:30, then leaving the hospital by 9 going for a vist to the Harley dealership. The Skeletal Survey (total body w-ray) and the CT scan, looking for MUltiple Myeloma lesions, were both negative. The Drs. are thinking now that it may have been another syndrome that memeics MM and occurs when your immune system kicks into super high gear to fight off disease such as cancer. Anyhow I see my Oncologist (cancer Dr.) Thursday regarding the bone biopsy and bone marrow aspiratin that he did last Thursday and also to set up my chemo schedule for the colon Ca. Everything has essentially healed from my laparoscopic colon resection three weeks ago.:)

The weather is beautiful here today so I'm going to get out and take a bike ride in a bit. I've been on two mission trips to Egypt and the Egyptians have a saying for a day like today - "Shams gamilla inaharda" which means "the suns shines beautifuilly today".:)

Thanks to all of you for your prayers and continued prayers. Prayer truely works.:);)

Having good friends who offer encouragment such as all the folks at bike-talk is a HUGE support system because many of you folks have had and do have your "swords to swallow" too. Thanks again.:)

Thanks joshbob! That means a lot to me! And speaking of the sun, it was beautiful today so I got the Harley out and went for a ride. Actually tried out another bike at the dealership today. A used (07 with 17K miles) Dyna Low Rider. Man does it ride different than the Limited. Anyhow they are wanting to talk trade between it and my 71 Mustang. Also regarding the beautiful sunshine today, I have been on a couple of mission trips to Egypt and they have a saying about a day like today - Shams gamilla inaharda which means the sun shines beautifully today. Thank you again!:)

Thanks MC for your prayers and thoughts! It's the additional strengh that we gain from friends that helps us to get through many of lifes "hiccoughs".

I'm not familiar with any restaurants that are close to the GAP on the NC side but over on the TN side in Unicoi off exit 32 there's the Maple Grove Restaurant that has EXCELLENT food and h-u-u-u-ge helpings. If you're going to be on this side of the GAP sometime, I'd like to get together. Bring your better half too cause my wife will be there. Anytime the Harley rolls off the carport, if she ain't busy, she comes out with her helmet. Thanks again.:)

Had an appointment with my Oncologist today and wanted to bring you all up to date. The Multiple Myeloma is essentially a "non contender" as it is very inactive and not likely to become active. It resulted from my immune sytem kicking into super high gear to fight off the cancer. That being said I start my chemo for the colon cancer Monday the 30th and will have treatments every two weeks for 12 treatments. I will receive two of the medications there at the Infusion Center which will take about 3-4 hours then the third medication will be infused using a pump over 48 hours. Then I will return to the Center to have the pump removed and have my port re-locked. Your prayers have worked and are being heard. Please continue.
    Thanks,
    Danny

God hears all prayers and I appreciate them. I had some Army buddies from Florida. Great people. Rode down to Jacksonville last April for H.O.T. training.

In your country today, decided to go over Sams Gap at last minute today. Probably not best choice for weather today. Went over to Erwin, then Rock Creek, 395, 197 ,Huntdale, 19W, then back to Asheville. About a 4 hour ride, gonna this again in warm weather... man it was beautiful ride. :D

Pix are overlook just past NC / Tenn line on your side.

That was a GREAT route and I'm glad you enjoyed it. Probably was pretty cold on tope of the gap though. You got to be careful on the TN side of the gap just before you get to the bottom of the mountain. There's a short strip of highway and you probably know where I'm talking about where the speed limit drops (not sure why because there's noting but 40 acres of TN around you) and the state loves to set there and give out tickets. So far I've been fortunate but there's plenty of folks that have been caught there too. Pix are beautiful! Thanks for posting.:)
