hope you guys can get me straight on this. O.K .... you put on the pipes, a se/ac (efi) now you need to richen em up. so now you have the stealer do a download, plus you put on a pcIII:confused: i'm of the impression you don't need both. i did the same, but never got the stealer download:eek: . the pciii seems to do a fine job w/o any type of download. i don't think you need both seems it's only a waste of money to have both done(except for the stealer:rant: ). am i on the wrong tract here, :brick: if so please explain. seems only a pciii or a sert is needed. i don't see much use for those downloads anymore

You do not need both, in the past people got the stage 1 download and then added the power commander, you just didn't need to add as much fuel then.

SERT is the same way you don't need a download or a powercommander.

Just one of them is the way to go.

Please tell me if I'm wrong, but the Stage 1 ECM remap ($150.00 to $200.00):gah: from H/D just resets the rev limiter to 6200rpm from what I'm told. The PCIII does that plus.

my thoughts exactly. the ones encourging both is the olde stealer. trying to pay for their old outdated down-loadin machines:rant: first they said if you use pciii your warnt. would be no good,:cussing: now it seems they're just using trickery before the buyer can figure things out:brick:

if i state this wrong i am sure it will be corrected the ecm remap doesn't re set your limiter the race tuners will do, and more, that the remap readjusts the fuel that the engine reqiures to run the way it did before you installled the goodies you will gain a little snort and your milage will remain about the same you just won,t fry your eng running it to lean I haven't ever heard the limiter changing with the remap, think of the remap as when we had to rejet basicly it is an electronic rejetting. the pc3, racetuner, etc. is what will give you the seat of your pants changes, rpms fuel delivery, timing, reponse type of things. and them are not cheap.

i know that with pciii they offer an upgrade which sets the limiter higher and offers more fuel with start up, it costs $40.00

Check out the Thundermax with Auto Tune. Its expensive but its a true tuner and it works great. It is much better than the PCIII

Don't know why you would want the rev limiter set to 6200 on a bagger. It you can't git to where you are going by around 5500 you need motor work.
The TM will let you adjust things like the rev limiter. With the TM with AT you don't have to take the bike to the dealer. You set a base program and with the wide band oxygen sensors all you do is drive the bike and it will tune itself.
Got a buddy that has a 96 to 107, He put his power commander on it. He dynoed out at 108hp and 115 tq. He took the Power commander off and put a TM on and rode it for a while. It dynoed out at 115hp and 126tq.
Big difference in just changing the tuner.
