Dyna low rider

Last March (2006) I bought a new Dyna lowrider,and I have covered 15000 miles on since. Have had a recent breakdown on it. The eight bolts securing the compensator sprocket to the rotor have viberated out damaging the stator behond repair leading to lose of the charging system.
Can I ask if anyone else has experienced this problem on 2006, as I know a number of changes have been made to this year of manufacture.

I think someone else here had a similar problem but don't think it was an 06. It figures, the bike is out of warranty. That sucks, hope you get her fixed....

If you purchased your bike in March 2006 it is still under warrenty and you don't have anything to worry about. Let the dealer fix it for you at the companies cost. The warrenty for a new bike is 2 years/unlimited milage. It is not the first stator/compensator that I've seen come apart and it needs to be fixed at no cost to you. That is the nice thing about the warrenties, no questions asked, je it right.

Hey VYBR8ER, is that a standard warranty on all H-D's? I didn't know that (obviously after my posted comment) My dealer told me "they" extended my warranty to 4 years and 10K miles, which I paid extra for. Sorry Gollum, I'm getting off base on your thread.

I have an '05 and it had a two year, unlimited mileage.

Yep it has the two year warranty, have some issues with the dealership, because I do my own servicing, here in the UK a standard service is 150 pounds about 300 dollars. Im a millwright by trade and prefer to work on my own bike. I know the earlier twin cam models had a different set up in the primary area.

Here in the states my last standard service with Synthetic oil was $400+/-, what a crime! I do all of my own work now, screw the dealer. I didn't realize you were across the pond. Good luck with the warranty work.

Don't think that a component failure due to manufacturer problems makes any difference who serviced the bike. If the dealer gives you problems, call Harley product support, the number is in your owners manual, and get them involved. Seems to get the dealer/service department on the ball. The dealer shouldn't have any complaints, they get paid for the warrenty work no matter what, just at straight flat rate with no markup. A good mechanic should be able to get it done in the alloted time, if not maybe I should move back to England. I lived in a village outside of Peterboro, 1985-1989, in Yaxley, Cambridgeshire.

About 100 miles from me in Kent, you don't want to come back here trust me, remember why you went...

Lack of opportunity bud i guess, to be honest the housing market has got to be such a price thats its ruling out normal people from home ownership ladder and renting is bloody expensive, the influx of cheap labour from ex iron curtain countries has not done much for the employment market either. Strangley enough I work for an American company over here, the last of the big automotive company's left in my area.

On the bright side I do have a Canadian passport so have other options

Dunno 'bout the Canadian passe-partout..it's getting stupid here too. i'm living in a starter home that I couldn't afford to buy if I was starting now....40 year mortgages are hitting the market..yikes!!!!

If you watch the housing market here in California there are now more houses in foreclosure than ever in history. Some blocks in my city look like ghost towns and the developments are only 4 to five years old. Our cheap labor invasion came from our southern border and it is having the same consequences on the middle class blue collar worker as your eastern block refugees. The sorry thing we have here is a political system that is trying to hedge all bets and pander to this future voting block because general citizen no longer has a voice. Time to stand up and take our countries back from the well monied political machines and remind them about "WE THE PEOPLE" Sorry folks, just hit a nerve.

That hits alot of nerves....especially mine. What ever happened to "we the people"?? Hey Gollum, we got the same thing here in NJ. I can't wait until these illegals start taking all of the white collar jobs, wouldn't that be nice. Maybe then they would get a taste of their own medicine....Hell, they might as well run for office next, they'll certainly do it cheaper!

i've worked since i was 14 y/o. brought up to believe if you work hard you'll do well in life . well i'm sorry to say it does'nt work like that any more. working is a fools game anymore. seems the world is geared against the working man and geared towards the lazy. maybe we working folks ain't so smart as we think. maybe the lazy ones have it figured out better than we figure so. . . . i'm still playing the fool and work every day:gah: not really sure why
