We lost a brother due to a friggin pothole! Damn
This report is copied from News 12 Long Island
"RIVERHEAD - Police say a pothole in a road may have cost a Riverhead man his life.

According to police, David DeCarle, 37, was riding his motorcycle on Reeves Avenue yesterday afternoon when the incident happened.

Police say it appears DeCarle was headed east when he hit the pothole and lost control of his bike. A passing driver called 911.

DeCarle was rushed to the hospital, but later died of his injuries. "

Here the only time the municipality is held accountable is if the pothole was reported in writing to the DPW and more than 48 hours has past (that they did not repair it) ain't that BS?!? I still hope they sue.

Same rule applies here which is I think is reasonable...If they did not have some sort of rule everyone would sue them and the town and would be bankrupt...I have seen several crators in the road which I guess makes me just as guilty for not reporting them...If they don't know about them they can't fix them...And our town does not have the $$ to hire some municipal union worker to go around and report potholes that need to be fixed...

Every city has pot holes. What makes me really fuming madd is here they take money designated for road repair and build friggen bike paths and bike lanes.

I also love it when I see them put fresh asphalt into a water filled pot hole...I guess that is how they insure job security...

I have a riding friend that lives in Portland and he lives on a street where the potholes are more like craters on the moon. I will not ride the bike over to his place. The holes are not only big but friggen deep. Yet the main road his street connects to they put bike paths in and special bike lanes.

My problem with the bike lanes is they do not stay in them and Jacque gets really pissed at me when I purposely come within inches of them...Funny story last year...About 20 bikes came up to a very yellow light, first rider stops in the middle of the road as the light turns red and waves them on...A cop saw the whole thing and wrote them up...God, did I laugh my ass off...

Well theres a difference in a 8 inch pothole that dents a rim

We all have to look at the road ahead, But sometimes there are sections of roads that are WAY beyond acceptable as safe unless you are in a tank. Mother nature was rude this winter and we all need to keep a good lookout to ride as safe as possible. Last summer in Geneva the main /5+20 street was so bad I went way out of the way to avoid it. It really sucks that the roads are not maintained better.
