Efi remapping

need some rock solid, down to earth non-sketchy truth about what to do....

i have a 2008 dyna fat bob. I want to put screamin-eagle slip on pipes for the standard reasons, appearance, sound etc etc. i have researched several forums about intake/air cleaners and remapping the EFI etc.etc and ihave evry intention of eventually doing all of the above.......eventually.... so that being said, heres my question

If i install the mufflers and keep the stock pipes, and nothing else right now, i know that the bike will not perform at "peak" performance. however, will this actually "damage" or harm the engine for a short period use, lets say 3-4 months ?????

is there actually enuff back pressure, sonic or thermal pulse to damage a stock 96 ???

i've heard all the rumors from the "store employees" that this will void the warranty..... i've read all the articles that say the newer efi engines "should" have the remapping done but nothing actually says DO NOT DO THIS OR ELSE !!! and thats what i usually need...........

if you open it up, meaning increase your bikes ability to flow more air though it's engine it will lean things out. in that event you will need to somehow add more fuel to richen it up. my question is on these 08's is if they do that by reason of them being a closed system do they need a fuel management system added. if so the steeler will certainly wish for you to have one of their needless "stage I downloads", plus one of their race tuners. in any event i would not go with the down load and go with one of these two management systems:
1. thundermax
2. powercommander

where i in your situation i would look into how this "closed system" plays into the overall picture first. i'm of the understanding that these "closed systems" only work up to around 40mph. but not real sure.

I tried not doing anything to my '08 and ran it a few miles and it was running so lean I could have sold the spark plugs as new ones. I ended up doing the download at this time because there is not a good solution for the '08 Ultra. By mid summer Thunder Max will have something for the '08 touring models. They have one now that will fit the '08 Dyna. from I can find thru research I think Thunder Max has the better deal for the'08s with the o2 sensors.
