    Hi!!!

My dad buy a sportster 883 07 EFI but he wanna convert to carb because we know repair and tune carbs, besides, the brazilian gasoline is very adultered (23% of ethanol plus solvents puts ilegaly on the gas).

Is possible to make this conversion?

Somebody here make this conversion or know how to make?

    Thanks and sorry my english!!!

Glaucius, welcome to Bike Talk. The EFI to Carb conversion can be done but this will void the warranty. Also, the carburetor won't necessarily work any better than EFI.

    Thanks Kenfuzed!!!

My dad wanna make this conversion because besides the adultered gas, the maintenance is more easy to us in carburetor, the parts of EFI is more expensive here too.

But the point is the gas....i hear that the HD EFI is make to use gas with 10/15% of ethanol and the brazilian gas is 23% by law plus the ilegal adiction of solvents etc....so my dad fear that the gas cause problems on EFI.

Glaucius - I recommend that you run that 883 with the EFI a good bit before making the switch to a carb. You are right to be concerned about fuel quality issues, but performance problems may actually be more severe with a carb than EFI. You may also want to check with other local Harley riders and find out what they do to compensate for the fuel variances. Good luck!
