Now the fun begins, It dies when you come to a stop and the speedo quit working, milage hasn't changed, tach works, back fires when you let off. It will start right back up.Runs great going down the road. Please any help. dealer booked for 4-5 weeks:mad:

Water or crap in the fuel. Drain your tank, replace your filter and refill with new clean gas.

When you washed it did you keep water away from the ECU? Many, many problems like this happen when water gets into the ECU. Check the top and if needed, remove it and let it hang upside down. You can use a hair dryer but be careful to only warm it not cook it.

Since the speedo stops and you have other issues it sounds like this might be a possibility. And, don't feel lonely, I've done it myself.

All good replys, good insight for troubleshooting here. I'd like to chime in on the two problems Chuck mentioned. I have a 2004 Road Glide, and I soaked the top of the tranny when washing it. It set a code, and the engine light came on. Speedo acted funny, but only a couple times then was ok. I assume this was from being waterlogged. That was about a year ago, cleared the code and no problems since. I only wash that area by hand now.

As for the missing and stumbling problem, could be water related or gas related as others have said. A friend of mine had a 2002 Road King, and the filter in the tank actually broke, folded over, and would cause intermittant problems running until it got down to about half a tank. Then the bike just would quit, but would run ok, or at least rideable after he filled the tank. I'd suggest you check your filter, even if you find that it's another thing causing the issues.
