Ethanol and efi problems

    Has anyone had any problems with their efi system since using gas with ethanol? I have a theory that it may be destructive to certain parts of the system.

    Does anyone remember the mid '70's? The fuel shortage? Ethanol was one of the popular products until the 3 automakers said using it would void your warranty... Figures... Think maybe the oil companies and auto makers are working closely together???:)

    I know that when I lived in Iowa and the mid-west, MOST of the gas had 10% Ethanol. Cheaper then the the others (promoting the corn thing). I ran it in all the vehicles I had....cars, pickups, motorcycles....NEVER had a problem with it. Now if you are talking about the E85....not a clue. 10% in a bike never caused me any problems. I would be running it now if Texas had it, and had it at a lower price, but alas, they don't, so I run premium in the bike and cheap in the van.

    i have done a bit of research on this and this is what i have come up with.......10% wont hurt any of the componets in a modern fuel system, unless it is an older system, maybe 80 and back. what it will do is eat the rubber componets. now if you are running 85% it will harm a system if not upgraded to handle it. i hope this helps a bit
