A friend of mine has a 1993 Heritage that seems to be letting an excessive amount of oil come out through the air cleaner. I know some will come through but this isn't the normal nuisance stuff. It actually drips out. He also seems to use more oil than everyone else too. FYI, the bike has about 29,000 miles on it.

What is the best way to determine the cause of the leak? It seems to run fine but there is an occasional puff of black smoke from the rear pipe. No blue smoke that I've noticed. Might this be a valve problem?

As alway, your help is greatly appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Dave
