Excitement for the day

So, had MY excitement for today......was coming back from a liesurely stroll around the base...had gone to the PX, got a haircut, stopped at the USO and read a book to my daughter....on my way back to the hospital to check mail and such..... BAM!!!! The Bus I was on rearends a semi that stopped suddenly! Hit hard enuf to knock out the windshield, trapped the driver under the steering wheel, maybe broke his pelvis/femer, and possible fractures to one or both of his lower legs (not a clue, but he had to be cut out of the bus by the Fire Dept.!) SO, stood out there for about 1.5 hours, gave a statement to the MP's, and finally made it here to the computer! Had about 10-15 passengers on the bus, couple of them wanted to be checked out...I was just shook up. best part was I was actually standing on perimeter road...no walking, bicycleing, or running on the loop.... hung out there for 1.5 hours AND got to walk about 150 yards along the road!!!

Don't think so.....the truck had locked up his brakes (could see the skids after the fact). Either way, he ended up STOPPED. Bus driver hit his brakes twice...HARD...problem was, he SHOULD have been turning the steering wheel with the first one, not waiting until the second time..... ended up only taking out about the first 2-3 feet of front driver side of the bus, but impact was enuf to knock out the entire windshield and trap him under the stearing wheel..... I swung by the hospital later.... he is now on our floor (he probably won't recognize me!)....from what I was told, no broken bones (he was LUCKY!), but having pain control issues.....No kidding...bet he has some MAJOR bruising!!! I feel the problem was bus was following the truck too close, going maybe just a bit too fast, then the delay in turning the wheel.......if he had turned the wheel the first time, he MIGHT have missed the truck....or at least not hit it as squarly!

SO, the AF is currently doing 4 months....but starting in January, going to 6 months. Depends on your specific job skills as to how OFTEN you do the 6 months...some will do every other 6, others will be every 3 or 4 or 6 (6 mo cycles). The Army is still doing 12 months boots on ground or more....... in the AF, if you have ER experiance, often they will give you the ER identifier......Army, not so sure, but would be willing to bet the same type of thing. With 12 years left to go, in the Army, you may make Major...in the AF, Capt would be the most likely.....might be CLOSE to major.....but unless they speed up the selection rate and drop the # years to be eligible.......not so easy.
