Exhaust sound

    Hi

    A friend of mine told me that my Sportster would sound better if I punched a 5/8" hole through my stock mufflers. Is this good advice or would it destroy the stock mufflers? Would it affect performance?

    Some friend. Bad advice. Yes, it would destroy the mufflers and yes it would affect performance. If you open up the exhaust you need to richen the gas/air mixture going into engine. Best thing if you want more noise is aftermarket mufflers/pipes and getting the bike tuned to them.
