Well, I'm proud to say I'm going on my first REAL road trip. We're taking 5 days and going north from Jersey, up to Mass, then to Maine, across Maine to Lake George, NY then back to NJ. About 1200 miles in 4-1/2 days. I will be riding my cousins 2003 Heritage Classic because I don't have any bags on my bike, nor did I put my sissy bar back on, and I want to be able to carry my own stuff. We mapped out our trip and it should be nice. We're taking all back roads and NO highways, we want to enjoy our trip. There will be 5 or 6 guys going, so it should be fun. We are leaving on Friday the 22nd and returning Tuesday the 26th. Wish me luck and I'll take lots of pics to share with you guys.

Thanks guys! I have been busy as hell with work and stuff. Not to mention the fact that my boat is running again and I've been doing that as well. Actually been in a few tournaments this summer too. I didn't do too well, but it has been nice to get out with the kids, they love it.

I've sat on the Heritage and it is an awesome bike. He's actually selling it, but I can't afford another bike. If anyone is interested in a 2003? Heritage Classic with 17,000 miles on it, let me know. He's asking $13,500 for it. That bike is so well balanced and so low to the ground that it fits me perfectly. He's 6'-7" and I'm 5'-6" and we both fit the bike.....go figure.

Thanks again for the encouragement and I hope you guys are all doing well, it's been a good year weather wise around here and I hope you're enjoying the same.

Great! I bet you'll be going through my old hometown. You aren't just going across Maine to get to Lake George. You're going across New Hampshire and Vermont, probably on route 4. Maybe 25 out of Portland, then dropping down 118 to route 4. 118 is a good road. That's how I'd do it anyway. You'll be close to Laconia too. Of course you could be going up over 112, which is the Kancamagus Highway. That's the favorite road for bikers in the state.

If you go through Lebanon, NH, think of me. Right after that you'll cross the bridge into Vermont and be in the town where my son lives. You'll be passing right by the dealership I used to frequent, except it's been sold to a lesbian couple who fired everyone and filled the place with used car salesmen. I think it's called Granite State Harley now. This is all assuming you're going on route 4. Oh, and don't speed through Canaan, NH.

Have a great time and take lots of pictures!

Thanks Hot01 and Fubar, I'll think of you both. I'm sure I'll love it. I know we're taking 9 but that's about all I know. I have the directions somewhere.....I'm just afraid I'll fall in love with the heritage and not want to give it back!

BTW Abby, we will be crossing Vt and NH because I remember him mentioning that but I don't know where or when.....Good thing I'm not riding up front! :roflmao:

I got the camera ready to go. I thought about bringing the laptop so I could download the pics along the way and email them home but I think that's a little much.....A little too much technology if you know what i mean. (we're supposed too be relaxing) Although I will have plenty of room on the bike.....

Will do Ironhorse! It ain't all that it's cracked up to be (being the boss), lots of headaches, but make my own schedule, no regular paycheck but sometimes you make a good buck, lots of late hours doing estimates in my office, but being able to spend time with the kids on the boat once in a while.....It's all about the trade-offs......I encourage everyone to try it!

Well, I'm back! Everything went fine. 1,388 miles in 5 days. We went from NJ to Ma, to Old orchard beach Me, Bar Harbor Me, then across to Lake George NY, then back home to NJ. I got on my Dyna today to bring it back home and had trouble riding it....What a switch from the Heritage back to my bike. I will post pics and details, not that there's much of either, when I have some time. Of course when I got back all hell breaks loose with work....which by the way I expected......overall it was a fun ride. Great to be home!
