Well after 2.5 years of being out of work thanks to getting laid-off, and not being able to get my "old" arse re-hired into that career, I finally landed a job. Home Depot wants me part time. They decided to take this "old" guy. Now I'll be making less than 1/8th of what I used to make. But, it'll keep me from sitting on my arse during the winter months. (seems Depot can't keep empoyees! They have many openings here all of a sudden.

They have openings cause no one wants to work any more. People just want stuff GIVEN to them. The old work ethic is gone. It does give us old farts a shot at jobs though.

I done worked all my life and ain't working no more. I still do a few home inspections now and then which keeps some extra money on hand. Winter time is the hardest time for sure, hmmm gotta find some projects.

Well good for you Fatboy, when ever I go to Home Depot it's always folks our age. Go to a fast food restaurant it's always those south of the boarder minorities. When I was in junior high and high school I worked full time, worked as a dishwasher, pumped gas and worked in a mill. Bought my own car and never begged for money from mom.

I've always thought we should just go ahead and take over Mexico and divide it up into some more states. Then I realize, where would our manufactories have a place to dump their toxins. But it would sure make wanting to come here rather pointless.

Sometimes I wonder if the modern invasion of illegal mexicans is tolerated because the mexicans may think we stole it from them and this is there way to get it back? Otherwise it makes no sense to me,

What are you kidding me?!?!?! Where have you been? They are here because this is the land of opportunity! Especially now with the FN Libs running the place and allowing them to vote (noo ID required in most states), free education (and even college paid for in many states), free health care (walk into any ER and they demand treatment on the cuff), churches fighting for their "rights" as well as the AMERICAN Civil Liberties Union (should change the name to Illegal Immigrant CLU. And if the Moron Vote comes out strong again, they illegals will get even more at our expense! Oh wait a minute, we're not supposed to call people who entered the country Illegal Immigrants any more we're supposed to say "UNDOCUMENTED".

Just a few years ago the fast food places had a some seniors working for them and I though that was great that they would hire them. Well apparently the seniors are too slow for most Americans! Now they are all south of the border types AND many get orders wrong due to the language issue (the issue where I don't speak their language, not that they can't speak mine! No wise cracks HRK about New Yooorkeeese!)
We are from the same era Marc. Shoveled snow in winters, threw newspapers, mowed lawns, pumped gas, greased cars, opened hot radiators, put air in tires, wiped windshields AND headlights, worked all my summers in my youth while some others played Little League or just hung-out at the "Village Green" knew (Billy Joel back then). Dad and Mom had no hand-outs for us. Charlie46 too!
Worked for my last company 27 years (laid-off with NO notice from company). Worked for previous the one 16 years (left on my on accord after I gave one month notice).

I know about all the freebies and handouts but I don't understand why? For votes? You're kidding, and if that is true why are we tolerating that? That politian in Arizona who is cracking illegals heads is doing the right thing.

Well, just last week in the news the PA Supreme Court UNheld the state law that votes must show IDs in order to vote. Guess who's is deciding to go after them? Holder. Look up your state, I don't know but chances are good that ID's are not required. This is a movement going on throughout the US. In fact, immigrants WITH IDs CAN VOTE!

You loose all your free time. They want you to work on Holidays too.
When you need to spend time with the family or its yer birthday or something.
    Sorry I got to work.
I went to Lowes to see about workin in the lock department and cuttin keys.
Told I wouldn't be available to work weekends.
They wasn't interested in even talkin to me.
I'm a locksmith of 40 yrs. Where are they gonna find somebody with my qualifications.
    The pay was very poor.
They are the ones that make all the money. Not you.

Yea I delivered newspapers, mowed, lawns and did all that other stuff to except shoveling snow, don't get enough.

OB is doing that to gain more votes cause he knows he is in trouble, heck with the amount of people still supporting him this country is in deep trouble. Boy to many people are just followers. We have become a divided country once again, not north vs south but liberal vs conservative.

I only mowed lawns and shoveled driveways and walks but a lot of them. Now that I think about though, I never did pay back my parents for the use of the lawn mower.

You mean you didn't mowe your parents lawn or did you charge em to:)

For an extra fee we would rake the grass clippings up to.

At Christmas time I would go out into the woods and get fir bows then to the 88 cent store for paint, wire, ribbon and glitter. Then make Christmas Wreafhs put em in a wagon and go door to door selling them, did good to. Now I just make em for our door.:D
