Well after the problem with the cam timing, the carb problem and the trans total rebuild I finly got to ride her this weekend for around 10 miles it was great while it lasted. I started down a hill and hit my rear brake and came to a stop started going again and the bike just lost power like somthing was dragging. so I pulled her over and sure enough I smelt brakes burning. The rear brake caliper had locked up.so I took a wrench and loosen the line at the caliper and hit the brake pedel to see if it was in the master cylender and it released. so now I will be rebuilding the master cylender and probily the caliper just to be on the safe side. I also need to to replace the cork gaskets on the posh rod tubes.( WILL IT EVER END SO I CAN RIDE IT )
Another problem is Im way to big for this bike 6 foot 8 inches tall and weigh 280. so I will probily be selling it as soon as I get all these bugs worked out. It toped out around 70-75 mph. shoud it go faster than this. just diddnt seem to rev up high enouph. I dont have a tack on it so I cant give you the rpm's. than again I do have alot of time and pride in this bike so I may keep it and work the bugs out as I go.

    Congrats on the first ride!

Terrific man!!! Glad to hear you got her back on the road. FYI there will always be something to work on. The fact that you did it is worth everything. What ever you decide to do with it, it will always be a source of pride.

    Ride Safe;)

how fast should one of the old iron heads go.

well I fixed the poshrod tubes the person that messed up on everyting else messed up on this one also. they had the seals in the wrong spot on the tubes. They ad 2 of thethe cork seals between the spring and the spring retainer. thay also left the washers out so I will need to get some. (no wander they leaked so bad) well I will be tearing the master cylender down tomorow and see if If can salvage it.also how fast should a stock ironhead sportster go.

    thanks
I just wanted to know if it would go fast enouph to ride ion the interstate. 75-80 mph . and the master cylender had a bunch of globs in it almost like they had put motor oil in it. well I gave the rear brake system a complete cleaning and now every thing works fine.

I Have To Push Hard On My 883 To Get To 100. Don't Like It, To Much Rpms. I Can Get 0-60 Real Good, After That It's Dead Weight. Good Bar Hopper. I Like To Ride Far 1,500 Miles Is The Most On Her, It Wasn't That Comfertable The Way I Have It Set Up.

I trust you've tried an aftermarked intake and exhaust?

My 05 XL 1200C will flat out scream up through 100, if need be. I usually don't take it over 80 on the roads I ride, though.

Maybe you could look at getting an upgrade kit for your 883 and make it a lot larger?? I think it should sure be a lot easier on your engine if you did that.

I'd Like To Do A Bore Kit One Day, And A S&s Carb. Like I Said One Day:d I'm Satisfied With The Power. I'm Not To Much In The Speed. Too Much Vibration With My Ride. I Don't Think You Can Go Faster Than 35 In This Hole Town. The Hwys Only 55 So It Works For Me. Nice, Smooth Putt'in.

    shes fast enough

well I did some tinkering with my clutch adjustmeny and also adjusted the timing and I had her up to around 90 to day and she was still climing but I dont have a windshield so I diddnt want to get blowen off so I slowed her down to 60 and she ran great. I don need to go fast anyways just fast enough to ride it on the interstate 70 mph. I will also be poasting a picture of my bike shortly.
