Many of the western states are ablaze including several fires here in Oregon.
The area that Maddog and I rode back through in Idaho is an inferno and I've heard some 10,000 people evacuated.
Here is a pic from today of a fire in Idaho with a Firenado. Can't believe I just rode through there 2 weeks ago.

With the amount of rain ya'll get in Oregon, I've wondered what would happen if you ever had a little drought. Guess we are seeing it now. When I was a volunteer firefighter for California Department of Forestry, my Battalion Chief once said, a handful of terrorist could bring the state to it's knees if they wanted. Lightning is enough of a terrorist. We don't need any more.

Yep it gets awfully dry out there, fire is natures way
of controlling disease, pests and causing new growth to
take over with healthy plants and trees.

Controlled burns help some, but there is a lot of territory
    out there...

Closets to me right now is 80 miles away. It rains here in the winter months but summer dries out pretty good. Big fire down south of me in Roseburg area and that's the coast range. The other fire is east of us along the Columbia Gorge in The Dalles and up next the the MT Hood national forest. Lot of the fires are caused by lighting strikes but far to many are from man.

image.jpg Wow,update on the fire that's closer to us. Winds picked up to 30 MPH and the fire has gotten bigger. Any riders reading this stay away from The Dalles if your heading into Oregon on I-84 or on Hwy 26.

The winds are 30 MPH at the fire we are 80 miles from it. However where we live we are surrounded by forests. No outside burning even a campfire is not allowed.

We're not in any danger guys. A closer fire just outside of Portland was burning yesterday and they got that one under control.

because if you ever have to prove something the burden is on you
depends if all you file is 1040 ez no problem but if you do the long
form, have investments, etc, papers that prove birth, death certificates
marriage, divorce whatever you keep, in a fire resistant safe, those safes
won't hold up to a forest fire...

Keep your viagra in yer pocket
