First 'cool' ride of the year

Well I woke up to a balmy 46 degrees this morning. First cool morning this fall so far. I was wide awake and alert by the time I hit I-85 south bound at 65MPH. I started to wonder if I were the only biker around the city of Atlanta that was willing to ride in this morning when low and behold a Dyna comes cruising by and I looked over and saw another bike in the HOV lane. At least there were 3 of us out there this morning. One thing I have noticed since moving back to Georgia from Germany. The warm weather has spoiled me!! The best thing is that I get to ride home in a sunny 72 degrees this afternoon. Now who could say NO to a ride like that?

Cowboy, you sound like my BIG brother. Yup older and bigger than I am he is. I had on my jeans, boots, jacket and so. He road to work an hour or two later with slacks, light jacket and so. I still had to rag on him because by the time he went to work the sun was out and it had warmed up to 50. For me it was dark and 46. I am ok with the weather all the way down to mid 30s. Then my mind starts wandering and that inner voice tells me I am stupid and should be in a car. :roflmao:

Back when I was living in Germany I had to leave work a bit earlier one day because it started snowing. Luckily I made it home before the roads got too bad. granted i had a nice sheet of frozen snow and such on my gloves, knees and helmet but the roads did not get too rough until after I was home. This morning it was 50 degrees and I actually enjoyed the ride. One heck of a lot better than 46. Funny still dark and so but 4 degrees made a difference.

As I have said before I still ENJOY riding until it gets down into the 30s BUT then there better be on heck of a beautiful afternoon to justify riding in that mess in the mornings.

hehehe yeah and starting to get older and no longer feel the need to simply suck it up. :roflmao:

I tend to ride into the 40's.. but I am in Norcal valley so the snow is not a deal.. and we dont get the sheets of ice on the road. But we did get stuck in the snow on the way to run-a-mucca this year.. and I dont know how you guys up in the cold part of the country do it... the 15-20 miles off the summit felt like it was a 2 day ride.

I do not really know how some of these guys do it either.

There is a rally every year in Europe somewhere ( I forgot where) but it is so dang cold they drain the oil from the engines at night and put it in a metal barrel next to the fire to keep it warm. they are camping out in the snow and ice. Brrrrrrrrrrrr is about all I can say. NO THANK YOU!!! I have ridden in Cold but just do not enjoy it as much.

I will ride until we get the first ice and snow. Then the salt and sanding trucks spread stuff on the highway. Once they put that down I am done until after the spring rains come and wash that stuff off the roads. They put so much salt on the roads up here that the roads are white from the salt.

Same here in Atlantic Canada... hopefully we have another month or so left to this season.:devil:

If you're heading out before or a little after sunrise and temp is mid 30's- low 40's you have to be careful of "Black Ice" especially if it was a little foggy or misty overnight.:devil:

yup, i remember that from Germany. Thank God we still have a few months here in Georgia before I have to worry about that. AND like it or not I still have a cage in case I decided I just do NOT want to drive.

THANK YOU!!!!! I took a long ride (my GIFT to all you LIBRA riders of 10/1). NOT A SELFISH BONE IN MY BODY! Leaving Enumclaw to eatonville, alder, elbe, ashford, hit skate creek rd. into packwood looped to randle (mt st. helens) morton (old logging town) thru kapowsin, orting, buckley HOME enumclaw. Most towns and villages people don't know about nor can pronounce but the LUCKY who live close. I have been down in AZ. for a couple years not back home here long enough to go on a NORMAL good ride thru our beautiful areas...... and what a day to ride 70+ and money for gas... Gentlemen and uhh ladies??? I am off to work here in a few. NOT TOO bad this morning. DARK, 54 degrees and clear skies. The ride home is going to WARM to say the least 82. BUT we have storms moving in on Wednesday.
