I have a 99 FLHT and would like to put fishtail exhaust on it, Question:
I see some with baffles and some without do the un baffeled pipes supply enough back pressure. What are the pros and cons. I'v heard the straight pipes are too loud for the folks riding behind us

The drag style look good but without baffles they are just obnoxious and loud
yeah they have that raspy sound but to anyone around it's generally annoying
also without baffles it hurts power.

A set of slip ons with baffles that flow better than stock will be good
sound good and won't be a PIA to your neighbors..

Sampson makes a good set of Fishtails that have no baffle however Sampson says that where it is necked down at the fishtail acts as there baffle. V&H makes a good set as well and you can get different baffles for them.

A bud has fishtails on his Heritage. I don't know the brand. By the sound I assume no baffles. He pisses everybody off with the obnoxious blab, blab, blab sound they make. He has to ride in the rear with us. AND, I ride with many loud pipes, his are the worst!

Loud isn't the problem, when he lets up on the gas it really is an aweful loud blapping sound. Sought of sounds like an old V8 with dual exhaust pipes that are sticking out the rear of the lowered Caddy and no mufflers. In other words, it sound like sh_t, very, very loud sh_t! But, like us sailors say; "whatever floats yer boat". :puke:

My V&H fishtails on my Springer were very loud. Everyone complained to me about them so so I purchased the quiet baffles from V&H but there still loud just not as loud. The baffles that were in them were just a spiral baffle but basically straight through.
