To put later model 9 spokes on a 97 model do u have to change the lower legs an calipers as well?

No you do not have to change the lower legs and calipers. You will need to change the bearings in the 9 spoke to 3/4" bearings, cut speedo unit down to 7/8' and cut a 7/8' spacer for the right side . Cut a notch in the brake disc on the new wheels for the speedo unit if you got the discs with the wheels, if not you will have to enlarge the hole in the old disc rotor or go to e-bay and buy some fo rthe 9 spoke. You will need a rear disc for the rear as they are not the same, Put a 1/2' spacer between the brake and the wheel and have the belt pulley hole enlarged to fit, cut a spacer 1-1/2" for the pulley side. I have put 07 streetglide wheels on my 1990 eglide and 6 spoke wheels off a 06 streetglide on my 99 roadglide. now ride...

The 99 rg gets jealous if I don't do a little for her. I just put the 6 spoke wheels off a streetglide, left front caliper was leaking so I put seals in it, put handlebars off a new 08 crossbones on Saturday afternoon. Had some 12" fat barson her, but the crossbones are a little narrower and feel a lot better. Probably don't look as good, but I never been into the "pretty" anyway. Can't ride one everyday and kept it "pretty". I"ll try to get a couple pics of the crossbones bars up in the next couple days. Now, I have a decision to make....... which one to ride to Daytona..

it don't matter as long as its black and it don't show grease. Had a young fellow tell me once " you think you look cool always wearing black?" I said no I look cleaner, black don't show grease and oil so bad. Where you been boy, you didn't know that's why we wear black ? It ain't a f**king fashion statement you dumba$$.......Never been nowhere, no matter how new, how clean or how shiney the bikes were, I didn't get greasey fixing something where they could make it home.

the only thing I can see if it were me in the area I ride is it looks to put my hands up in the cold wind (my hand warmers are gloves) other than that it looks like it would be comfy, was at the steeler the other day and sat on the x-bones, real comfortabal bike, but like chuck said I think the head light needs to be changed, it had the fat bob duel round setting next to it and that could poss. look good on it. thanks for the pics

the fat bars i replaced the stock bars with were 14" high (rise) and 38" wide from end of the bar to the other end. The spread at the riser was about 12-14". I really don't know what the pull back was 6-8" i think. the crossbone bars are 12" high and 32" across. Not a lot of pull back and about a 10" spread at the riser. As I said they just fell better to me personally. When riding the bike, with the wide bars, i felt like I was trying to reach around a big girl. Not that I don't like reaching around a big girl on occasion.......anyway, i had them laying around the shop, so i thought i would try them. I did like them better than the stock RG bars. but probably not as well as the crossbone bars, but I haven't road enough since saturday evening to know how much i will like them.I might find something else next month.

The flat metal (shelf) is a place to put my GPS, when I am traveling. I couldn't find anything reasonably priced to use so I just made me something. the one on the left handle bar is for the XM roadie satelitte radio. Both mounts have industrial strength velcro so I can quickly pull them off and put them in my tour pak.

Thanks for the clarification Paco. BTW, the bike looks nice either way, as long as your more comfortable while riding, that's all that matters.
