Been thinking about what I would like to do on the OL and my 30th anniversary which will be next may.
Asked her if she would like to hire a bass guide and go fishing on Lake Falcon.
Neither of us has been on the lake.
    She said YES.
We haven't done that in a while..
So I called a guide to find out some info and prices.
Got a couple motel names from him in Zapata, Texas
And checked on renting a mini Van to carry the 6 1/2' and 7 foot rods and tackle and clothes.
Dauym 656.00 for 4 days. Plus tax.

Went downstairs and got a 6'8" rod and got it to go from the back of my Soul to the front.

Think I will take the soul 7 hours southwest to Zapata, Texas

    Yeehaw.

Tomorrow is our 34th. I'm off, she's working till 4pm. We'll probably just go out for dinner somewhere and hope no woodchucks hit our vehicle.

Congrats to both of you, (well, actually four of you, I guess), I just started on year 15 a few weeks ago. Gave mine spending money for her all ladies shopping trip to the U.S. in a week.

A fishing trip! Nice that she's in to fishing too. My wife would laugh like crazy if I planned a fishing trip for our big day then I'd be dead meat.

Old Chucktx went down there about 3 yrs ago with about 6 boaters. When you are in numbers it is safer.

Fishing ain't what it used to be. The guide said too many people come down and want to take the fish to Eat.
He said its killing the fishery and the mexicans are using nets to catch them on the mexican side where they sell them.
When she graduated College years ago. for her graduation present she got a Brand new Gambler bass boat.
We used to hire a guide on different lakes for about 6 yrs or so on our anniversary.

She used to fish a little with me. But I stayed out from Daylight to dark and it took the fun out of it for yer.
She likes to cast and catch fish. I just can't spend from day light to dark.

I let my boat sit for 10 yrs.
Been spending a pretty good bit of money on it. Its acting up too.
Broke down on me a couple times.
Went fishing on Rayburn last sunday. it acted up again.
Gonna have to do some more things to it.

Don't want to Pull it 7 plus hours to a lake on the mexican border and look for bass.
Want to hire a guide and let him do the work and put me on the fish.
Run his boat and his gas. He has lived down there for 30 yrs.

Gonna take my Kia Soul and it gits about 30 miles per gallon runing 75-80 on the hiway.

Its got an alarm on it. So I will know when I'm in the motel if somebody jacks with it.

After I learn the lake, I will know where to go and more on what to do.
I know there is timber in the lake.
And I'm pretty sure you can loose your gear down there if your not careful.

Here is a picture of my 1996 Gambler bass boat my OL got for her graduation from college present.

I'd mount a minigun on my bass boat and just wait for those bastards.

I think I would NOT take my wife to that lake. Unless your packing an arsenal of weapons with you' a few grenades, a mortar launcher, and a shoulder fired missile.

This forum is quite an eye opener on things you never see in the usual worldwide media. An amazing story. I'd likely pick another lake if I was going with my wife. Why not just buy her some jewelry or flowers like most guys?

How about some hip waders and take her fly fishing instead? Whatever puts a smile on her face.
