Those stupid aluminum fork tubes on my wide glide and the ultra classic not looking too good:(. The reason they are stupid, who in there right mind would design an aluminum part so close to road acids:fight:. The wide glide is pitted pretty bad, looks like h#$$. Any suggestions on how to clean these jewels up? I have the name of an aluminum polisher, after polishing will the finish last or just get pitted again:rolleyes:.

If ya got them apart ya can buff them out to bring the "chrome shine" them spray them with clear laquer. The only problem is when the clear starts wearing off.

How would they look in black?

I took the wheel and fender off my new RG

Got some sanding blocks from Lowes, and
removed all the clear coat and sanded down the
factory finish to a smooth surface.

Cleaned with some denatured alcohol and then
painted them with high gloss high strength black
from Lowes, about $5 a can....

Two years later they still look good
and no $600 chrome package, painted the
    cow bells too.

They have other colors you could go with
a satin silver if you want that kinda look...

Or powder coat them or look on craigs list
    for a set from someone....
