I have a 93' FXR. I love the bike but I am too tall to ride comfortably with the stock foot controls. I want put a set of forward controls on. I am fairly good with working on the bike but have never touched the transmission. I just wondered if this was something that I should be able to handle. Any tips or suggestions would be welcome.

If you by a set new, they usually come with pretty understandable directions as long as you're comfortable using tools and are mechanical, you should be fine.

    Good Luck!

Fairly easy. I did it to my 94 Dyna and my wife's 96 1200 Sporty. You can get them in a wide variety of price ranges, but my suggestion is to go with a more reputible vendor. Nothing worse than to have linkage go craps in the middle of a long ride! If you have a decent mechanical ability (basic engine work on a car), you can do forward control install in a matter of hours. ou'll appreciate the difference....like riding a whole new bike!

Kuryakyn makes about the best bang for the buck controls. Pretty heavy duty stuff, well finished, replacement parts can be had and they don't break the bank.

There are cheap(er) controls but stay away from them as they wear out and there are no replacement parts to be had. There are tons of controls in the $500+++ range so loads of choices there also.

Thanks for the replies. I went with the kuryakyn. They were pretty easy to install and are absolutely the way to go.
