Yea, had a oil leak after riding it about 30-40 miles that would show up. Was hard to find it at first but got some talcum powder put some in the area after cleaning it all up. Took it out for a long ride and put it up on the left. Sure enough there it was. Coming out of where the speed sensor is located.
it spread so that it looked like it could be coming from a number of areas but the powder did the trick.

Pulled it and sure enough the O-ring was cut in half. So cleaned the sensor with a clean towel lubed the O-ring with some Vaseline. No more leak. :D

:D you been speed reading again. :p I posted it here a few weeks ago. Had just picked it up just a few days before my nephew was killed overseas. Yep, got two Springers now. New one is a 100th anniversary 03 and a beautiful bike.
Will probably sell the 01 this next spring but having a hard time wanting to do it.

It actually was once I found out where it was. The way it was leaking and draining down it made it appear it was the housing where the clutch cable enters. Glad I didn't have to pull that.

Ha! Yer right. Actually, working second shift is hard to get quality time on the forum or even getting a good ride in. SS is going to start early next year for me. Then I can drop this full time slavery!

And if the leak is in an area where the powder will not stay you can use spray powder deodorant...
