Front brake dragging on 2005 road king

    this has happened twice...when i remove front wheel assembly (wheel, tire, rotors) and install it back...the front wheel doesn't roll freely..can hear brakes dragging and it smells hot in a mile or so of riding...when the dealer done it before it rolled freely...got it back from dealer...i had to replace front fender and now it is tight again...what am i doing wrong....

    make sure that the spacers are in correctly and the axle is in the correct position.....outlined in the service manual. another problem could be that the master/slave cylinders are in need of cleaning. over time water will accumulate in brake fluid and cause it to sludge up. brake fluid should be changed regularly....also outlined in the service manual. have fun and let us know!!!!

    i just got it back from harley-dealer...they replaced front mastercylinder (new)...rolled freely then...just removed wheel assembly...used same spacers on same side...did notice that i had to pump brake twice to get brake???

    that initial pump is normal....but you should not have to pump to get a pedal after that. glad the dealer got you fixed up!!

    ok, let me start over.....everytime the wheel cylinder or mastercylinder is removed, it will take a pump or two to get the pressure back into the system. if the system is opened it will need to be bled to get the pressure back into the system. this must be done before operating the machine!!!
