Just got my ride back from the local shop and noticed the handling difference with the new tire; while it was in the shop the mech noticed that the front bearings were rusted and dry. When we checked out on the bench we found that the bearings were scored and the race looked like it had been sandblasted with boulders.
Got the chance to take it out on the superslab after all the new parts were installed and it handles like a dream. Dunlop E III on the front with plans for for a E III on the back at next tire change. Sure makes a world of differance in riding.:)

Having a front bearing lock up or come apart while riding would not be a good thing. A good mechanic is a keeper, and this one may have saved you some skin. Enjoy the ride.
