There are kits available that only change the triple tree. They still use the stock tubes, fender and wheel. The kit should include spacers to make it all work. I just had the same thing done on my 2000 FXD after I wrecked it. I changed the fenders, but only because I wanted a different look, not because I had to. You didn't include a year, but I'm sure there is a kit available for your bike. Just need to check around. I'm not sure what kit I wound up with. I had my work done in Germany and they must pass the TUV approval. much tougher then DOT. If you need me to I could find out from the shop what is on my bike. You can see some pictures of it at

if you want to go all the way with it,go to  they make a "Chopper " kit that changes the rake of the front end and gives you longer fork tubes also...they show a lot of pictures of their kits on lots of differant models...or just check out almost any aftermarket catalog....they have lots of differant wide-glide conversion kits....they run about 600-900 dollars depending on all the bells and whistles :D
