Frount cyl gets no spark when Hot

    Took a 200 mile trip agin after installing new plugs and wires and still lost a cyldiner agin. This time I found no spark for the frount cyl. but after the bike sat and cooled off to the touch then I got spark agin and got back on my trip ontill it got hot agin and same thing I lost spark to the same cyl.. but after cooling off agin I got spark to that cyl. agin. now what! Thanks for all the other info yours gave me

    the coil that controls that cylinder is breaking down.....as the coil heats up, the windings inside expand, and one is broken. after cooling off they retract and remake a connection......time to replace it, or to be safe, i would replace both.....if one coil is handeling both cylinders just replace it, as the front section is bad..........let us know!!!

    You have that 99 Dyna right?

    Single coil single fire, get a stock HD replacement coil it will bolt right on easily, also, you should buy new plug wires, that bike is 10 years oil and it's good insurance, replace the plugs as well, This will eliminate that issue or at least should unless you have something else causing problems

    However it sounds like a bad coil, usually they just go bad and that's it.

    You could opt for HD's Screaming Eagle upgrade however it's not really worth it unless you're going to have performance work done eventually...
