Fueling without spilling

    Filling up my gas tank with out spilling all over the place is incredibly difficult. I am sick of smelling like gas all day. Does anyone else suffer from the problem? If so, what do you do about it? :banghead:

    yep, happens quite a bit. i have stopped it tho....if i am able to control the flow, i will slowly fill to the top. if not i just dont fill up all the way. the first time i filled my new bike i spilled quite a bit of gas. the new inlets suck if ya ask me....the hole needs to be bigger. when i remove my tank for painting i will cure that problem!!!! but until i do, i keep a rag handy and dont fill to the rim!:)

    Have had a few spills. Don't like when it hits the pipes:eek: . I think some of these gas pumps are designed for fast in and out fill ups. They're either full on or off.

    Yes, can it can be a real art form filling that tank…especially if you live in those EPA states with them spring loaded plastic vapor covers on them.
    With that said… I rarely spill. HeHeHe.

    filler up bit$h!!!!!!!!! and check the tires while your at it.....:roflmao:
    ya ya, we all know what would happen if i really said that!!!!!
    my wife would be like ok, and the first thing she would do is push the 87 octane button, knowing it takes 93. then she would over fill it till gas ran everywhere making sure i never made that comment again!!!!
    all kidding aside, i have to remind myself it is only a 3.5 gallon tank, and pumping slow dosent really take that long on such a small tank, and now that i have that burned in my brain.......i very rarely spill gas anymore.

    Couple of things can cause that, if you fill up from the right side of the bike when you put the nozzel in the tank it's shooting at the center tunnel of the tank and is more prone to toss fuel back due to the shorter distance and higher flow volume.

    I rarely pull the trigger all the way back on the fuel pump, like it was said 3 to 5 gallons won't take long.

    Fill from the left side of the bike, and aim the nozzel away from the side or center toward the front of the tank or straight down, don't put the nozzel all the way in either so it won't splash fuel back at you.

    and remember always put your cell phone away and place your cigar in the opposite side of the mouth when filling the tank so as to not catch the vapors on fire!

    I whole heartedly agree. It's actually almost as good as napalm, but I HATE having to rush home to rewax my tank where the gas spilled!:witsend:
