I was putting the boat away and decided as long as I was out there for a while I'd start my bike and let it warm up and recharge the battery.
(I haven't been out riding for a couple week, intermittent rain has kept me at home.)
Right after I started it I hear (can you imagine that) a hard braking out on the hwy.
Now the way things are set up here You cant actually see the road from the yard, driveway or garage. So I mossy down the drive to where I can look out at the road and the guy across the road must have turned left in front of an oncoming car. Not too bad, a couple of bent panels, no one hurt. That's not the funny part.
No one could get cell service down at the road but I had a bar or two so I shouted across the road to come use my phone,
While the guy was making his call I walked back up the drive To the garage to shut my bike down. Reved it a couple times and shut it off.
Went back to get my phone and The guy asks me, (Now get this)"What kind of bike is that, a Harley?"
Now of course I had to do it.
"What the **** else do you think sounds like that?"
Then the guy says "I've got a bike but it's only a Honda".
Oh Boy. Now it's "What the hell difference does it make that it's a Honda, as long as it's what you like? Why would you say it like that?"
Needless to say I instructed him about attitude.

I mentioned this attitude in another thread a while back, and it always gets me riled up.

Now-a-days all the metric riders are trying to assume the attitude of the hard-core bikers, and they come off looking stupid. They love to trash-talk Harleys cuz their Yamahonki is faster, lighter, cheaper, whatever, and they make ignorant statements like someone cares. Does H-D care what any other mfr. is doing or making??

What they are really saying is, they're jealous but too ignorant to admit it. I could care less what someone else thinks is the best ride. I say, just shut up and ride.

I think that guys attitude was embarassment for ONLY having a Honda. If so, Ithink he's probbably OK guy. I owened 2 Hondas previously, all I could afford at the time. Seems like he would love a Harley. For now at least he's ridin.

That was my impression, but what the hell? Like was said riding is riding.
My first real motorcycle was a Honda. Since I've owned several other makes.
Just cause I ride a Harley now doesn't mean I have a reason to look down my nose at those who don't, whether they wish to or not.
I know for a fact that my FXD isn't gonna fit the riding style of everyone, the days of one style/type of bike are long gone.
Now you can find something for however you like to ride.

We've all owned other makes before a Harley and were content with them. If you're like me, I was proud to be ABLE to buy one after years of saving. And we are all guilty of trying to justify our purchase by defending it. After all, we don't want to look stupid.

The trash-talking comes from the idiots who've never owned one, or are trying to sell you something else. They are always the loudest.

Comically, R. Lee Ermy (who is famous for being a loud-mouth) is the new Victory spokes-person, and gets paid big bucks for it. He admits he's never owned ANY motorcycle in his life until Victory gave him a new FREE one. Now he trash-talks Harleys every chance he gets. Follow the money to find the truth.

That's funny! My first two bikes were Hondas, a CB 350 and a CB 450. The 450 was the first bike with double overhead cams. It was a good bike. I've always thought the whole motorcycling thing is about riding and not so much what you ride.

It is Josh. I also owned many Hondas, from a little 90 to a VFR 1100, and enjoyed all of them (wish I still had the 305 Scrambler though).

But you know, no matter what you're riding, someone comes along and sez it's crap. I just say "Thank God we don't all think like that".

Someone was trying to re-create the 305 Scrambler look, but they used a motor from a new VX 700. Rider magazine did a story on this and said the 305 Scrambler is one of Honda's best designs. I agree, and I had the 160 Scrambler too.
