Fxld sounds odd

Hi,all
new to the board but not bikes.My problem is I just replaced the intake gaskets on my 95 dyna low rider.Now it's stock execluting a jet kit and Santee drag pipes
At idle the rear cylinder sound different from the front The front goes blat..blat...blat...blat,ect the rear goes blat..blat-sss-blat-s-blat.gets down the road fine.oh it has around 50.000 miles on it .newer plugs, Taylor wires ,K&N filter.I ride it like 400-500 miles every week (work)Any help would be welcome

Did the change in sound occur with the change in pipes, or just the gasket? Cuz that would make sense, with the pipes that is. Are you talkin about at idle or one the road, revvvvvin to beat the next red light? More info needed.

Keep an eye on your mileage, that should be an indicator if it ain't running with efficiency.

I've got about 3000 miles on my pipes,plugs look the same,does it at an idle.If you put your hand over end of pipe the front is steady blat.blat.blat.but the rear is more like blat.suck.blat.suck.I changed the intake gaskets cuse it was back fireing (poping) loudly on decel.I average 50-54 mpg.

I figure this is a stock carb'd Evo, right? Had it been re-jetted/tuned for the drag pipes?

yep it's jetted and tuned as in my first post.The only thing resent I've done besides changing intake gaskets is I had a screaming eagle street ign.from a 1996 flh 8 pin wired for a 7 pin.It ran good but loped real bad.So I put in a 7 pin race for a 95 fx.but that was before intake gaskets

Maybe a rear exhaust leak. Did you check there? Are you using the stock exhaust flanges, or did the pipes come with a set of flanges?

pipes came with flanges but not gaskets.I have a new set just not installed.I could try changing them

Yeah a new set of exhaust gaskets wouldn't hurt ya, and use the OEM ex. flanges and retaining rings.
