Yea and then you lock some stray dog in their who craps all over the garage floor and lifts his leg and sprays your bike for locking him in their. But if you would have left it open until you got home the dog would have left peacefully after guarding your property and he could have crapped outside in his favorite lawn. Thus leaving you to enjoy your favorite brew from your refrig in the garage after arriving home.

It really isn't new stuff. My house is fitted with X10 stuff. Lights come on and go off based on when I want them to from the computer. Anyone coming down my driveway I know about or if they walk up and ring the door bell I can hear it if I'm all the back in the farthest part of my backyard. Those last two I could have also used the same modules to open or close the garage door. I just wouldn't have a pretty graphic showing a door open or closed. I would have to trust the normally open or normally close signal needed to do it. But I wouldn't worry about a dog getting closed in. I'd worry more about a skunk getting closed in. Now think about that.:D

Youse guys depend too much on electronic gizmos. I don't have a garage, so I guess I won't be getting one. I'm with Cowboy - manually operated works fine for me - before we had electricity doing everything for us, we had handles, knobs and latches. Remember those?
