Some Oregon residents arm themselves on 'Glock blocks' amid rising crime

Crime in an Oregon county has reportedly gotten so bad that residents are vowing to protect themselves on so-called “Glock blocks” instead of awaiting authorities to respond.

KOIN.com reports that Coy Tolonen, who lives in unincorporated Clackamas County, and a group of Jennings Lodge residents are responding to escalating crime in their neighborhood by posting fliers that read: “This is a Glock block. We don’t call 911.”

“We’re starting a new group,” Tolonen said. “We don’t feel neighborhood watch is sufficient, and we don’t feel the Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office is sufficient.”

Petty crime like stolen lawn ornaments and other acts of vandalism are plaguing the area, said Tolonen, whose lawn statue was recently stolen from her front porch.

“I will defend myself — and my home,” she told KOIN.com.

Tolonen, who saw the man who stole the statue and unsuccessfully tried to apprehend him, decided to get a concealed carry permit following the incident.

“I think more people should be trained [with] permits to carry,” she said, adding that all of her neighbors have licenses to carry.

The fear, Tolonen said, is that thieves will become amid escalating crime. In her case, Tolonen was home at the time when her statue was stolen.

“The radio was on,” she said. “If he got in the house, what then?”

Authorities, meanwhile, have cautioned against vigilantism

:roflmao: The crime there is so minute compared to the rest of the country its like the size of a pin head. So the old guys and grandma are upset over petty stuff and want to form a Vigilante group. LMOL Clackamas County is bigger than most of those eastern New England states. Their police force is pretty big, their like flies on you know what. But, then when the news media finds out that a gun is talked about it goes national. Love it we finally made the news. :roflmao:

Can you imagine when grandma cuts loose with he Glock, what's that old movie called Duck you Sucker. :D

We don't have any crime where I live, we just shoot first ask questions later. No city just lots of trees. :) Those city boys would get lost where I live. :p
