The weather is warming and I loving it. Several of us met at Bristol Motor Speedway, some from the dealership, and took a short day ride today - about 140 miles. Went up to the mountains and on the Blueridge Parkway for a spell. I figured it'd be about 10-15 degrees cooler in the mountains than here but guess what. It was pretty warm. Here's a couple of pics. You'll notice the Park Ranger auto there. He came by and saw the bikes. Guess he stopped in just in case there was "trouble with the biker bunch" but when he saw that most of us were gray headed he just ordered up some food and sat and talked for a spell. Anyhow it was a great ride and a beautiful day and he Ultra did great.:)

Those mountains, it's actually called Grandfather Mountain, are part of the Great Smokey mountains and that haze is why the Cherokee called them "The Mountains of Great Smoke".

I love the Smoky Mountains. That's the best part of the east coast. The Blue Ridge Parkway is such a good ride. I'm jealous. Kind of. Pretty good riding here too.

    Sarge,
Have you got your route picked out yet? I think you were wondering abut Knoxville. You might think about getting off of I40 before Knoxville onto I140 towards 129. That winds around and runs into 19 where you can make a left turn on 19 and that runs up to Waynesville, NC and Maggie Valley is close by. By turning off before you get to Knoxville, you'll miss most of "malfunction junction" where I75 runs into I40 and that's usually a mess. Anyhow have a safe and Blessed journey and I hope that we can make it over.

The local HOG Chapter is going to one of the pit bar-b-ques this Saturday evening. Notice today said kickstands up at 5:30 at the dealership. Never heard it put that way before - kinda like it.

Like we've said before, riding the bike to work even makes going to work enjoyable. Got up to 84 today and had to go to a meeting out of town so I rode the bike to the meeting then had a great ride home across a route with some gentle "S" curves which was sort of a bonus for a workday. But the really good bonus is to get milage reimbursement at the car rate - for riding the bike and enjoying it!!!!!!!!:D:D:D
