A stupid story. Totally narcissistic. Why does this guy think anybody would want to read an entire short story about something like this? It's not even written well. What's the point?

JoshBob, I see it as a guy putting his heart and soul out there for the world to see in order to make his wife feel better for something bad that happened to her.

That doesn't seem narcissistic, but chivalrous!

Your point is taken, but I think he could have still been chivalrous about it and not put it out there for the whole world to see. I wonder how his wife feels about this? Make no mistake, someone out there will know or find out who they are.

There are a lot of interesting things a man can write about besides crapping your drawers and pissing the bed. I suppose in this day and age, anything goes, but I think that what he did was in bad taste.

And another thing, the focus of the story has so little to do with motorcycling that I think that little part about picking up a wrench was added just so he could post it on that website.

    joshbob,

I get your viewpoint too. I think if more people practiced empathy and understand others and their viewpoint, we would not have such a polarized country!

As to your comment about the wrench, I'm guessing you did not read the whole story, since the end is about leaking bikes and trying to get an engine seal to work.

LOL - Oops, I didn't read the last bit and I should have before making my comments. Went off half cocked, as Mac the Wife would have said.

I'll go back and read the rest of the story . . .

Well, I re-read the story and it turns out, I did read the whole thing. The last thing mentioned was the author picking up his wrench.

I liked the part where he had so much trouble with his crankshaft seal - I changed mine 3 times, too, before I discovered it was leaking from the 2 screw holes where there should have been a stator plug retainer. Doh!

I liked the story the second time around, but it's still the subject matter that turns me off, which I still think was in poor taste. However, the writer does have a sense of humor and I found the story written better than I previously thought, once I got around my preconcieved notions of "taste".

The fact that you re-read the story makes me think highly of you, joshbob. It's easy for one to discount something they don't not like; it takes an open mind to consider and debate a topic such a topic.
