Amen to that. We have a local group of folks who run the "Wags for Tags" outfit. They get donations for vets who've been disabled in combat and supply them with dogs, wheelchairs, therapy, whatever they need - but mostly dogs for blinded vets. One of the ways they raise money is to get these big plastic drums and turn them into rain barrels. Then they get kids from schools around the area to hand paint them and they raffle or auction the barrels off. Mac the Wife and I saw them at the Tarboro "Happening on the Commons" the weekend of Armed Forces Day and bought some raffle tickets.

Next school year (only a few months away), I'm going to get my grade school kids involved in this project. Each of my 4 art classes will receive a rain barrel to paint.
