Harley battery tender question

    Hi all

    Was just wondering whether anyone could forsee any problem with using a Harley battery tender on a metric Motorcycle?

    as long as the voltage is the same you will not have any problems. any tender will work on any battery system, as long as the voltage is the same and polarity is observed.......:)

    It also depends on the battery. Some sealed non-acid batteries shouldn't be trickled charged (read the manual that came with the battery or check with the manufacturer). They should be charged at 15 amps with an auto-shutoff capable charger that recognizes the battery is fully charged. I have a battery by Odyssey (expensive, but lasts about 6-7 years) that can't be trickle charged.

    Now it's kin to both. Even the JD has a metric engine in it-or at least the last one I bought did.

    Just be sure to order the model with the metric battery clamps on the ends of the wires, the HD ones are SAE and the clamps for the metric won't fit properly

    thought my tender Jr. was broke; wounldn't charge. there's a fuse in the wiring leading to the battery. it's ok now:devil:

    now that was dogone mean!! since the mid 90's the hd tenders come with both......if somebody didnt steal the highpriced metric clamps out of the box!!!!!!!!!!:D

    I thought everyone knew that HD batteries come with metric batteries that have 10 mm bolts !

    Nope, they work on rice grinders just fine. DC volts is the same on all modern motorcycles.:D

    Give ya a little tip that will save your day,

    Go to radio snack and get one of the wires with the roach clips on each end, it makes a great little jumper cable and will let you connect any broken wire so it will work,

    Takes up no space and fits right in the bag, if a cable breaks use the wire to jump the break and ride home or to a shop.

    great idea!!!! but.....always a but huh?......that wire from radio shack will not hold the load of a starter....it will work for most other aplications, but the starter draws too much current and will fry the wire.......it will let you push start tho..........:)
