Harley is recalling 2014 touring and CVO models over issues with their hydraulic clutch.

The recalls affect 25,185 Touring motorcycles, models FLHTCU, FLHTK, FLHTP, FLHX, FLHXS, FLHTKSE and FLHRSE, plus Softail CVOs and Trikes, models FLHTCUTG, FXSBSE and FLSTNSE, built between May 3, 2013, and Oct. 14, 2013.

Some of these motorcycles may exhibit a condition in which the hydraulic clutch system may lose the ability to generate enough lift to disengage the clutch. If the clutch does not disengage as intended, the rider may have difficulty slowing or stopping the motorcycle, which could result in an accident. Harley-Davidson has initiated these recalls to correct the affected motorcycles.

The company is taking the additional measure of issuing a Do Not Ride notice to riders given the potential safety issues.

Another reason to let others find the flaws in the new models first...

That's what Masdog and I were discussing on the ride today, and that's what suddenly changed. Plus, what's the fix?

If you're into long distance touring avoid any of this recall stuff and get the new Goldwing F6B.

    :)

I hate to say it but if you're a touring purest and don't care a dam about cool or the non existant HD brotherhood the GW is one of the better bikes for long distant touring.

Been there done the Goldwing thing, no thanks. I had a 1100, 1500 and a 1800 Goldwing. Thought the 1500 was the most comfortable for me with my Longer legs. The 2001 1800 I had cramped me up to much and sold it before I had it for a year. If I were to ride another one it would be a 1500 but think I'll keep the Harley not because it's the cool thing it's just the most comfortable bike I've ever rode. The Harley people here are much more friendlier than the Goldwing crowd. They were like a bunch of winy old women.

I've never ridden one, only ride with a rider that has a 2009 and its wicked fast. Looks comfortable and sits lower than an Ultra.

He offered to let me take it for a test ride the other day when we were out and about but I passed. Probably should have as my wife was with me and we both could have taken it for a ride to see how we felt about it.
