Does anyone know if the existing wiring harness on an 05 Ultra Classic accecpts the HD external amp that fits under the tour pack? Does a new harness need to be installed or can you just plug the addtional amp into an existing one? Sounds like install could be ugly.

    Actually it's a PIA

Took one off the 06 CVO of a friend.

There is a separate harness that runs from the speakers under the faring and plugs in to some power connectors etc, runs under the tank, along the side of the rails under the seat to the amp under the tour pack.

It has the wires coming in that harness to the rear speaker connectors

Basically your front speaker wire outputs run to the new harness, back to the amp, back to the front speakers, and to the rear speakers.

I think they call it an overlay harness...

If you run this you cannot have a quick disconnect on the rear because you'll need the amp or no radio/speakers.

Check out Hawg Wired. They make amps that are plug and play for the Harley and you can add the rear speakers. They have them set up as kits with the speakers and crossovers. Grat sound and 75 watts per channel. The install is a peice of cake and I was amazed at the sound.
