HarleysLR, I read one of your post that said you installed Quiet Baffles in your V&H pipes and liked them. I was just wondering how they affected you bikes performance. I figured they would dampen power in higher RPMs, but how about mid and lower RPMs?

Or for that matter any one else who has installed the V&H Quiet baffles and has an opinion to share. Especially if they were installed on a 110 cubic inch or bigger engine.

I like the way my scooter looks and runs but am willing to sacrifice a little to turn down the volume. One of my neighbors down the street that I just met who likes Harleys said he could hear my bike every time I fired it off. Other neighbors that I know say they don’t mind and appreciate that we just ease in and out of the neighborhood, but I don’t want to add fuel to the fire of neighbors that I don’t know who don’t like motorcycles to begin with.

you know I'm thinking that the quiet baffles may have gave me a little better mid range, we ran the interstate for about 40 miles one way and into a head wind and it just seemed to have a little more umph when I needed to pass a truck or line of cars. Never got over 90 so don't know about top end. It's not a lot quieter but it is a bit deeper, Doesn't sing quiet so loud running at highway speeds. we'll see once the packing burns out from around the baffles. I do like them though, so far worth the money. Like you I try to keep it quiet in the hood. We have about 10 people in the hood that ride and some like to rev it up. I'll coast to the corner and fire mine up early in the mornings. V&H are known for the noise they make, excellent pipes though.
Quiet baffle or not it's still loud. Probably a little more back pressure, the baffles have a plug on the leading end. They aren't near as long as the stock ones.

Are those Big Shots long you have?

I have thought about trying to make baffles similar to the old glass-packs that I ran on my pick-up as a kid, but there is not much room in a 2” pipe. Then I saw your post about V&H Quiet Baffles. I wouldn’t mind it being a lot quieter but I don’t want to change pipes. The large diameter mufflers look OK on baggers, but they look a little awkward on others IMO.

I think you could make a baffle like these pretty easy.

Thanks, I think I'll save a few drill bits and buy them.
