KNow a lot of folks has a new bike and or gonna get a new bike.
    Wanted to Pass this alone.
It started about 8 months ago. HD has tigthened up their warranty policy.
So if the dealership says they can't warranty it. Its not the dealership its HD new policy.
To replace a battery, the dealership had to do test on the battery for like 7 hours.

HD don't make the battery, Deka does.
HD don't make their pipes or mufflers , somebody else does.

    A dealership got a O.K. to warranty a engine.
After warrantying the engine, HD will not pay the dealership 5000 for a engine and install. Seems like HD baited the dealership and is watching them.

HD says the dealership was suppose to do all kinds of test on the motor before replacing it. Before when they said O.K. they never said anything about tests in the past.

Got a Buddy that bought a 11 Road King. Had the dealership to put some Kuryakyn hand grips on it that they sold.
The TBW sensor went out. He took it to the dealership with a 5 yr warranty.
The dealership said they would warranty the labor but not the TBW sensor.
The bike had a after market part on it. It could of been installed wrong at the dealership, or the aftermarket part might of caused the problem.
So know what you have done to your bike might not be under warranty by HD

I know this is BS, but its HD new rules on warranty.

I hear the Victory dealership and everybody else has adopted this policy too.
    It ain't just HD.

It's understandable why they do this. If you take off OE parts to put on aftermarket stuff, why should they warranty something that is affected by that part? That's why most people don't make any changes other than cosmetic stuff while it's under warranty.

Although the dealership SHOULD warranty it if they installed the parts. I never had any warranty problems when they installed stuff.

Why would anybody buy a Harley if they can't make changes to it.
I can see if you installed it that they wouldn't warrant what you changed.
But comon a grip makin a throttle grip sensor go Bad. No way.

Depends on what changes you are making. Cosmetic is OK, but if you change pipes and f.i. tuner, what do you expect? Nobody (cars, motorcycles, atvs, boats, etc.) is gonna honor a warranty with those changes.

Seems like HD hasn't been puttin out as good of quality stuff
When something goes wrong , they look for a way to blame it on you
What you fo to yer bike has to directly effect the problem
The emission stuff on our bikes along with the fuel
Is causing a lot of engine problems

I know that after my trip to AZ the dang cat is coming off. I had oil temps up to 300 F a couple times and my right leg was burning up. Was at a HD dealer in AZ and told the service guy about the oil temps and he asked me what kind of oil I was using. Told him Mobile one V-Twin synthetic and he said that's your problem and you are voiding your warranty. I didn't argue with the idiot just shook my head and walked away. No two HD dealers are alike.

Ethanol in the fuel runs hotter than straight gas. Compound that with the catalytic "fire box" and you will have much hotter running temps. That's the real reason why they started putting oil coolers from the factory.

This oil thing never seems to go away. There are idiots everywhere--even at the dealerships.

Did they prove it was the grips that caused the TBW sensor to fail?? If not which I doubt it was(installation fubar by the "tech" is my guess) they should replace the sensor,no charge...

They said they would never work on it till you signed the work sheet under their conditions. Meaning you accepted the responsibility to pay for the TBW part.
His bike has not been fixed yet.

I think I'd be going somewhere else, seems they won't take responsibility for their work and make the customer sign a waiver letting them off the hook if they screw up...

You ain't gonna belive this BS
A buddy of mine that was told because he had aftermarket grips installed on his bike even though the dealer installed them, that the twist grip on the TBW was not under warranty.
Another buddy of mine looked at his bike.
    Now Git this.
The friggin dealer didn't git asjust for the throttle grip to go all way on so it would bottom out against the TBW gear .
He had to adjust the front master cylinder and everything over more so it would bottom out.
    Not it works perfectly.

I changed the grips on my SG when it was new(09). A child could do it. Anyway that's why you do ALL the work you possillly can yourself. Keep those monkeys away from your pride and joy.

    This dude is like 6'6"
He only rides with ape bars. Big ape bars.
He bought the bike new and had the dealer to put the apes on before he took delivery.

When I was younger, all my bikes had apes.
