Can I take directions from google maps and program them into the GPS, or do I have to enter a specific destination?

    Look at the Garmin 660
Garmin makes the best and easiest to operate GPS units Period
Been using GPS units for about 20 yrs
The one from Garmin will come with a bike mount & car stuff
It comes with a CD for the computer for route planning

    Buy it with lifetime maps
    If you have to
Call Garmin direct and talk to them on the phone
    They are really helpful

You can download the dealerships into extras on the Garmin too

Don't ask me how I know this

Not really some are weather proof,

I've had my garmin on the bike two years
only caught in rain once, because I can tell it's going
to rain after all these years on Earth

See the sky gets grey, clouds are up there
and these little droplets called water fall.

Just take it off, pop it in the RG glove box
    and you are golden.

They also sell waterproof cases at GPSCity.com
which are way less than a zumo

Zumo's are nice but way over priced, don't
buy the latest get a refurb or buy a used one
    off someone like a 550.

It's too expensive to be on the leading edge
    with GPS.

Yes I have the Zumo with my RG CVO
however before that I ran a Garmin GPS
with GPS city mount on my 09 for two years

Somehow it survived the FL weather.

Just saying you don't have to buy the Zumo
to have a gps on a bike, most folks don't spend that
coin, you can do the same with a regular GPS

If it rains slip it in your jacket pocket...
