    When in England , at a fairly large conference, Colin Powell was
    asked by the Archbishop of Canterbury if our plans for Iraq were
    just an example of empire building' by George Bush.
    He answered by saying, Over the years, the United States has sent
    many of its fine young men and women into great peril to fight
    for freedom beyond our borders. The only amount of land we have
    ever asked for in return is enough to bury those that did not
    return.'
    You could have heard a pin drop.

    Sometimes, the truth rings louder with the silence..... If anyone has never walked on sacrad ground of a military cematary, domestic or abroad, it is truely humbling. Silence speaks louder then any words spoken.

    You must have mistaken Bike Talk for some other forum if you believe for a moment that our lack of commentary was due to some lack of respect for the idea conveyed in this thread.

    Just so ya'll have the facts, here's a link to the full story behind the story FLHTbiker shared with us:

    Got the privledge to lay wreaths at the American Cemetary near Duxford England while serving as the base Boy Scout Master for RAF Alconbury in the late 80's. The most inspiring moments were when the older women who knew some of the Airmen who went down in WWII and were buried there came up to lay flowers for their departed friends. They truely knew of the sacrifices that were made and appreciated the men who guaranteed their freedom. After 40 years they were still showing up to pay tribute. Still chokes me up to think about it.
