I thought the standard jetting for your bike was 42/170, and that you could adjust within that with the Stage 1. But the some Sporty guy will check in soon, I'm thinking.

The 45 slow seems a little large, for a baseline to start with the 42 slow jet air screw 2 1/2 turns out from being gently seated an a 175 main. You want to use stock CV jets and emulsion tube and needle, not a dynojet kit.You can also shim the needle jet .010" or get the needle jet from the '88 Sporty. Its called N65C. What year Sporty you riding??
There are a few Sporty experts on here and CV carb tuners so I'm sure they'll get you fixed up and runnin fine soon.

Without knowing year it is hard to say. If it is 04 or newer you are close, and cowboy's numbers are REAL close to where my 05 finally settled down. Looking at your pic I am inclined to think your bike is atleast 04 if not newer. Given that hypercharger I don't know, but would think your air intake would be higher (obviously limited some by filter) which could run on the lean side needing a bit richer jets. Shouldn't effect the idle side though as the flaps should be closed at idle. Not dealt with one of those, thank God it wasn't in the mix when I was trying to settle my cough monster down.

I know for a fact those carbs can be :witsend: , but once it settles down I also know those Sportys can be too much fun. :biker: good luck.

looks to be pre-03, early evo, hard to tell any closer, couldn't get a good enough look at the drive train to see if it's a pulley or chain, sure art will chime in on the carb issue, if he isn't burned out yet on explaining the set up:roflmao:

Well with further gander the turnsignals are all wrong for 04 and up. I have to give to Sportsterboy's take on pre-03. Those do look to be the big lense older rascals. Art would be the man on that rascal.

If .97-1.09mm = .38-.43" then thats the range to gap the plugs.
If all that's done to your bike is a free flow breather and pipes then your jetting shouldn't change all that much from stock.I would say you're carb farts are because of the needle jet. What I would try is go back to the stock idle jetting for the CV and shim or replace the needle jet with the one mentioned above,go one size up on the main jet and try it out . If you still have carb frts take note of what throttle position its happening and you'll know where you need tuning. Slow jet-idle to 1/4 throttle, needle 1/4-3/4 throttle and main jet 3/4 -WOT.

I have the open ac and the drags, all I did was turn out about 2 1/8 turns on the mix screw, didn't change any jets, no farts or caughs
