And I have a few questions to get me ready to install it.

    1. I really NEED to see photo's, if any one has them, of the drilling
procedure for dealing with the mixture screw. I am a visual person,
and have been reading and not understanding how to do this. I am under
the impression that i need to drill out the stock mixture screw.

Most importantly i would like to see the pre-drilled part of the procedure,
and equally important the actual procedure.

    2. right now I am running with a stock airbox and 1 3/4 baffled drag pipes.
I am planning to upgrade the airbox soon, but this is my set up now. How
should I jet? What jets am I getting? will i need to re-jet after i put in new
    hi flow airbox?

    3. Gas mileage? wha are you guys getting mileage-wise with this stage 1
kit and an aftermarket exhaust and air cleaner.

Ill probably think of more questions. Thanks in advance to helping out with this issue.

The kit instructions have a few basic pictures including one pointing to where you drill out the plug which covers the mixture screw. I've been busy preparing for the upcoming V-Twin Expo (dealer show) but once things settle down I had planned on producing a short video showing the entire procedure. It's on my to-do list for next month.

The kit and instructions try to be fairly self explanatory and I tried to write it in a narrative way that makes sense. However if you still have trouble just let me know and I'll walk you through anything you are unsure of.

Thanks guys. The thing is, I think that the carb on my scoot already gives
me access to the air mixture screw.

I was trying the idle drop method of turning the screw in each direction till the engine cuts. I get it to the soft closed position and it goes out, but as i was
opening it, the engine never konked out, ergo, could not find the sweet spot.

What does the extra hole on the slid do?

got the kit. I rebuilt the carb with all the parts. I have not yet put the carb back on the
bike as it is pouring here in LA. I would like to replace the plastic elbow but wont have
time to order one before I reinstall the carb. you think anyone in LA has them in stock and can install it?

couple of questions about the parts in the carb kit :
    1. i had an N72V needle in my carb. what difference does the needle in the kit
    provide? will it affect mileage.
    2. what affect does the brass elbow (not the stock) have on mileage considering
    the increase in flow.

checkflag - If you plan on replacing the elbow with another plastic elbow my advice is don't!! - Get the hiflow brass elbow instead and take out the old one; they have a habit of breaking off which makes for a little excitement when the gas hits the hot pipes if ya git my drift.
Putting in the new elbow is best done before you start putting anything into the carb.
Most of the local INDYS carry the brass elbow and I think chucktx also has them.:)

    We have the CVP inlet

CVP Fuel Max Inlet Elbow for Harley motorcycles

Instructions on how to replace the fuel inlet elbow:
    Harley Fuel Elbow Replacement

Re the needle, the N72V is somewhat lean through the first 1/3 of the throttle opening. The needle provided in the kit has a different taper profile to eliminate flat spots and will not impact mileage.

i had no intention of using the plastic one.. mine is cracked as it is. I shoulda ordered the brass one when i ordered the kit. oh well. Where in CA are you located at, Glendora.. I'm in los angeles, and it took like a whole 7 days to get the package. Even with snail mail it should only take a day or 2. Do you know any retailers in SoCal/los angeles CA where i can pick up this part? I have my carb apart and would like to get the elbow done this weekend.

how bad do you think the cracked plastic will effect fuel mileage.

I wouldn't worry about mileage as much as I would a leak of gas onto the hot exhaust.

Currently the only shops in SoCal that carry my parts only special order. I can drop one in the mail but you won't get it till monday or tuesday. Yeah, our postal service blows!

cool, went to hardware store today, spent 10 bucks for an extraction kit
recommended by that website and got it out with very little effort. Looking forward to getting the new elbow.

I also found that the small rubber diaphram on the bottom had cracked rubber, so I need to replace that part. I wonder if that had anything to do with my crappy mileage that i have been getting.

Are you talking about the flat rubber diaphragm that is under that 3 bolt plate on the bowl? If so that is the accelerator pump diaphragm and it could either leak or prevent fuel from being sprayed when you roll on the throttle. Any Harley dealership should have those. I was stocking a complete rebuild kit that had that piece but the supplier had a problem with a defective gasket so I've stopped selling them for now.

Thanks Ken. Yeah, that's the part I'm talking
about. I was going through he carb today and
noticed the rubber had ripped. I couldn't help
wondering if that coulda been a cause of my
bad mileage. That and the leak in the elbow.

Any way I'm getting one tomorrow and when I
get the brass elbow on I cannot wait to fire up the
    bike and see the differences.
