    Hey,
I am having some terrible trouble getting my yamaha xt200 to start and start consistently. I have done everything (literally), the mechanic that has helped me said that the last possible answer is replacing the "ignition pickup".
Does this mean the "ignition coil"? And has anybody experienced this? Or even thoughts on what else could work...

    Thanks!

Not sure what model your bike Is but like any gas engine it takes three things to run , spark , gas & air if it just hard to start , I would double check plugs & carb/ efi system , then check the coil

your ignition pick up tells the ignition when to fire,if it is not working properly,it won't run correctly, you might want to pull the spark plug and ground it to see if the spark is consistant, and you could hook a timing light to it to see if it is timed properly, and fireing consistantly.I'm not sure what all your bike has,as far as ignition system, and would be a good idea to check the coil...good luck
